Pylon tenant sign

Freestanding Sign

A term used for any sign that is detached from the building, standing on it’s own. Freestanding signs have their own concrete foundation and almost always have a sign pole in the foundation (even if it’s not visible to the eye). Freestanding signs are typically located by the street or parking lot entrance and consist of every sign type listed here, and more.

Pylon Sign

A pylon sign is a freestanding sign that is typically detached from a building. These signs are supported by one or more structural elements which are architecturally similar to the design of the sign. Often times used as tenant panels for malls and plazas. Can be made of various types of signage and décor. Static or digital signage.

Monument Signs

A freestanding sign that is low to the ground and typically decorative. Monument refers to the structure style. The signage on the monument sign can be anything, such as a digital sign, lightbox cabinet, 3D letters, channel letters, etc.

Pole Sign

A sign placed atop a sign pole with it’s own concrete foundation. Mostly all freestanding signs start as a pole sign and are then decorated to become a pylon or monument sign.
